About Millenium
A Shanghai manufacturer of transmission & distribution equipment
Shanghai Millenium Industry Co., Ltd. designs, builds, tests and supports transformers, switchgear, compact substations and battery energy storage systems from a 25,000 m² plant in the Lin-gang Special Area of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone.
Company
Who we are
Millenium — Shanghai Millenium Industry Co., Ltd. — is a Chinese builder of transmission and distribution equipment based in the Lin-gang Special Area of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone. What leaves our factory spans the whole distribution chain: oil-immersed and cast-resin dry-type transformers, high-voltage power transformers, pad- and pole-mounted units, box-type and compact substations, medium- and low-voltage switchgear and ring main units, and lithium-iron-phosphate storage systems ranging from outdoor cabinets to megawatt-class liquid-cooled containers. We take each of these from design through manufacture, routine testing and after-sales support.
The catalogue runs from 5 kVA up to 31,500 kVA across the 3–35 kV band, with power-class apparatus reaching 110 kV, and storage from 40 kWh cabinets to 10 MWh containerised plants. Designs follow IEC 60076 and IEC 62271 as standard, and we release ANSI/IEEE, GB or GOST-compliant variants for buyers in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and the CIS.
Working from a 25,000 m² plant in Shanghai since 2016, a workforce of more than 200 — over 30 of them design and test engineers — ships to buyers in 40-plus countries. Because everything is engineered and assembled under our own roof, nearly every parameter is open to change: capacity, voltage ratio, vector group, conductor metal, insulation class, ingress protection and cooling. Describe the grid and the site, and we build to suit.

Factory
We manufacture Millenium equipment ourselves
We manufacture Millenium equipment ourselves rather than buying it in and relabelling it. The 25,000 m² Shanghai plant is laid out as four linked lines sharing a single roof — transformer winding and assembly, switchgear and cabinet fabrication, compact-substation and container integration, and energy-storage assembly — each under overhead travelling cranes and feeding one continuous assembly floor.
The sequence starts in the winding shop, where oxygen-free copper is drawn off stock reels and wound on CNC machines for both foil and wire coils. Cast-resin coils are vacuum-cast and cured on site; oil-immersed cores are stacked, clamped, vapour-phase dried and tanked; and tanks, cabinets and enclosures are cut, punched, folded and powder-coated on our own sheet-metal line. Switchgear and low-voltage panels are built and wired at dedicated benches, then each cabinet is tested on its own before busbar and secondary wiring are signed off.
Nothing ships without routine testing — winding resistance, turns ratio, insulation resistance, no-load and load loss, applied and induced withstand voltage, partial discharge, and temperature-rise or dielectric type tests where a project calls for them. Storage systems add cell grading, BMS communication checks, insulation and liquid-cooling leak tests, and a full charge/discharge run.
The plant holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification, is audited by NOA, ECM and UDEM, and is staffed by more than 200 people, over 30 of whom work in design and test engineering. Finished equipment is shrink-wrapped, palletised or packed in fumigation-free wooden crates for worldwide shipment, with documentation packs, type-test reports and factory acceptance tests (FAT) prepared on request — customer and third-party witness testing is always welcome.
Quality & testing
What every unit goes through before it is crated
| Transformer routine test | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Winding resistance | Confirms joints, tap-changer contacts and conductor cross-section |
| Turns ratio & vector group | Verifies voltage ratio on every tap and phase displacement |
| Insulation resistance | Checks dryness and insulation condition |
| No-load loss & current | Core quality and magnetising performance |
| Load loss & impedance | Guaranteed losses and short-circuit impedance |
| Applied & induced withstand voltage | Dielectric strength of major and inter-turn insulation |
| Partial discharge | Detects insulation voids (dry-type and HV units) |
| Temperature rise / impulse (type) | On request, or where a project specification calls for it |
| Energy-storage routine test | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cell grading & pack matching | Consistent capacity and internal resistance across the pack |
| BMS communication check | CAN / RS485 / Ethernet data and protection thresholds |
| Insulation test | DC bus and enclosure insulation resistance |
| Liquid-cooling leak test | Coolant loop pressure and tightness |
| Full charge / discharge run | Usable energy, efficiency and thermal behaviour under load |
| Factory acceptance test (FAT) | Witnessed by the customer or a third-party inspector on request |
